“Oprah Winfrey's private jet was forced to return to the city airport after its windshield was cracked in a collision with a bird, officials said. Winfrey and her boyfriend, Stedman Graham, were not hurt in the incident...”But, what about the pilots? The story doesn't even mention them? Are we to assume that either Oprah or Stedman were flying the plane? Highly unlikely. After all, a bird hitting the cockpit window would certainly be more likely to cause injury to one, or both, of the pilots; yet, no mention of them in this story.
I realize that, as the "celebraties" involved in the incident, their welfare is more newsworthy than that of anyone else who may have been on the plane. But, isn't the welfare of the "others" on the plane equally important? Apparently not.
